Education The Washington Community School System is the largest in the county. Four elementary schools have an enrollment of 1,362 students and 50 students in special education. Washington High School and Junior High serve an enrollment of over 700 full-time students and several shared time students from Washington Catholic. There are approximately 150 teachers and administrators. Washington Catholic Schools have an enrollment of over 450 students in grades K-12. There are approximately 40 tears and administrators. North Daviess Community Schools have over 1200 students in K-12. There are approximately 75 teachers and administrators. The Amish community is served by the Raglesville Elementary school, in addition to other private schools. Barr-Reeve Community Schools have over 725 students in K-12. There are approximately 50 teachers and administrators. Grace Christian School serves over 100 students in grades K-12. The school is based on absolutely moral standards with a biblical framework. Daviess County has several colleges & universities nearby as well. These institutions offer a wide variety of educational opportunities. Vincennes University is located in Vincennes, Indiana is approximately 18 miles west of Washington. V.U. also has a Jasper Center, which is approximately 35 miles southeast of Washington. Indiana Business College is also located in Vincennes. Oakland City University is located approximately 30 miles south of Washington in Oakland City, Indiana. Evansville, Indiana, which is approximately 55 miles south of Washington, has the University of Southern Indiana and the University of Evansville. Indiana State University and Rose Hulman Institute of Technology are located in Terre Haute, Indiana, which is approximately 70 miles northwest of Washington. Indiana University is located in Bloomington, Indiana which is approximately 70 miles northeast. Ivy Tech has technical schools in Terre Haute, Evansville & Bloomington. |
